City of Quartz summary

There are three reasons listed as to the why the disenfranchisment of African Americans occurred. Summarize each reason in two sentences per reason.

Reason 1 - Diverse racial composition:
- Basically, the African Americans were soon segragated from talkinng/hanging out with whites.
- African Americans were isolated due to all these laws which made the Bloods and Crips create their gang to go against whites.

Reason 2 - Dynamic economic growth:
-There were many jobs that were opening in the 1950's in Chicago, Detriot, which whites wanted.
-African Americans also wanted these jobs so they fought for rights to try and achive their goal to getting jobs to support themselves and their loved ones.

Reason 3 - Dispersive spatial arrangement:
- African Americans wer left out of sight due to this segragation between blacks and whites.
- In world war II, the African Americans forced the recognization of the segragation to whites to make it as a consequence.

Group aims to curb violence in southeast SD (San Diego, CA):

This article talks about how there are many shootings in the area San Diego, CA, and many cops believe they are gang related. There have been many cops trying to stop this gang violence, but it is nearly impossible. The police department are just trying to help these kids that are affiliated with this gang activity and put a stop to gangs throughout the city. Lewis then meets with the police department to discuss about the launch of "Operation Safe Summer Nights." Hopefully the police department can keep up their hard work and maybe it can stop gang forever.

1)Police chief  William H. Parker:
 Parker was born in Lead City, but was raised in Deadwood, South Dakota. Parker became a police chief on August 9, 1950, and is credited with transforming with the LAPD

2) Second Migration of African Americans (out of the South --- to places like LA):
The second great migration was the migration of more than 5 million African Americans from the South to the North. It was much larger and of a different African Americans It was much larger and of a different character than the first great migration.

3)White Flight:
 White Flight has been a term that originated in the United States, starting in the mid-20th century, and applied to the large-scale migration of whites of various European ancestries from racially mixed urban regions to more racially homogeneous suburban or exurban regions. It was first seen as originating from fear and anxiety about increasing minority populations.

Background On Gangs

1) What do you know about gangs ?
A)I really don't know how gangs work or anything. I personally have never been affiliated with any sort of gang activity. But, i do know that they are around and are very violent.

2)What is your experience with gangs ? Think about your community, your personal experiences, and what you've seen/learned through news/movies/etc.
A) I personally have had experience from other gang members. They have hit me up on the streets before when i'm out late at night. They can really cause a lot of damage to a city depending on how many are affiliated with this kind of activity.

Under the Same Moon - Movie Review

1)I actually liked this movie.

2)I liked Carlitos the little boy because he went through so much trouble just to go see his mom in L.A.

3)I don't have anything against this movie so i rate a 1.

4)I rate all the movies we seen a 5 except for the kite runner. The other movies i like because i can actually understand them and i like the action they have.

*The next movie i would want to watch is Bastards Of The Party
